We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Production Baker to support bagel production and day-to-day kitchen operations. This role includes hands-on baking, dough production, ingredient preparation, packaging, cleanup and sanitization, and inventory/product organization.
We are a small, family-run bagel shop experiencing rapid growth with plans to expand distribution and open a brick and mortar storefront. During this growth phase, we are looking to add reliable team members to help us meet growing demand and expand capacity. This is a team-oriented role and we are seeking staff with an interest in business operations and a desire to grow with us as we grow.
Responsibilities
Production
• Prepare, portion and form bagel dough according to established recipes and processes
• Prepare bagel and cream cheese ingredients, seasonings and toppings
• Prepare and mix cream cheese schmears according to established recipes and processes
• Shape, proof, boil, and bake bagels to quality standards
• Operate ovens and basic bakery equipment with emphasis on personal safety
Packaging
• Package finished bagels for retail, wholesale, or freezer storage
• Label, date, and organize bagels and packaging
• Portion schmears into retail and wholesale containers
• Review product while processing for quality control and consistency measures
• Follow proper food safety and sanitization procedures
Inventory & Organization
• Organize dry storage, cooler, and inventory
• Track ingredient usage and assist with creating ordering lists
• Notify manager when ingredients or supplies are running low
Cleaning & Sanitation
• Wash dishes, including frequent cleaning of sheet pans, food prep containers and baking equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout shifts
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
• Wear required hygiene gear (hairnet or hat, clean apron, gloves as needed)
Schedule & Work Environment
• Early morning shifts (typically 6 am, sometimes earlier)
• Flexible schedule based on production and event needs
• Standing for extended periods; lifting up to ~50 lbs (flour, trays, boxes)
• Fast-paced, small-team environment
Qualifications
• Baking, kitchen, or food prep experience preferred (not required)
• Comfortable working early mornings and being on your feet
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to follow recipes, systems, and food safety procedures
• Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
Nice to Have
• Experience with bread, bagels, or dough handling
• Commercial kitchen or bakery experience
• Passion for food, people, creating efficiencies and workplace safety
